Overview: Astrology is a sacred science over 2000 years old. Kings and religious leaders throughout the ages relied heavily on their astrologers or their own knowledge of the heavens to guide them when making important decisions. (Yes many religious leaders of antiquity were expert astrologers.) The study of the movement of the planets through the sky is as old as the sky itself. Understanding what the planets and their cycles mean; decoding the inner workings of the Zodiac and grasping the concepts of the 12 houses gives you access to divine knowledge. Who are you? Why are you here? What works for well for you and what doesn’t in this lifetime? All is revealed via the language of the stars. What makes this program unique?: Earth Institute’s Contemporary Astrology Program is unique in the way ancient tradition, modern psychology and symbolic understandings are woven together. Through our program you will gain the ability to interpret the symbolic language of the sky. Our astrology programs are taught incorporating the philosophical, mythical and spiritual context in which astrology was created. Predating written texts astrology was originally handed down verbally from master to apprentice. Our programs combine comprehensive facilitation and class materials with at home exercises. You can start Astrology with Earth Institute at the very beginning (great if you have never completed any formal Astrology training) or contact us to gain recognition of any prior astrology study you have undertaken and slot into our program at your current knowledge level. We welcome students who have completed beginner courses elsewhere. Course structure: If you have a general interest in Astrology you can simply enrol in Contemporary Astrology Level 1 to get an overview of what Astrology is and how it can inform your life. For the more serious student, we have courses ranging from a 1 year Certificate, an 18 month Diploma to a 2 year Mastery course. Earth Institute’s comprehensive Astrology programs are taught in line with the syllabus of the nationally recognised Federation of Australian Astrologers (FAA) exam system. Our advanced programs are designed to prepare you for the FAA exams, which upon completion, provide you with a qualification held in high esteem around the world.
CERTIFICATE IN CONTEMPORARY ASTROLOGY
Overview:
Earth Institute’s Certificate in Astrology introduces you to the foundations of Astrology. By the end of this course you will be competent in knowledge of planets, signs, houses, aspects, relationship compatibility, transits, progressions and simple chart calculation. Upon completion you will be able to describe a life and personality via the birth chart and make predictions. Professional certification: At the end of this course you will be eligible to sit for the FAA Chart Interpretation exam. Course structure: The Certificate in Astrology is held over one year, and requires attendance at a combination of weekend and/or weekly classes. Subjects: Contemporary Astrology Level 1 Our first course introduces you to the stage (the houses) and the backdrop (the signs) of the birth chart. After the 2-day introductory workshop you’ll be able to demonstrate which houses are dominant in your horoscope and explain how that affects your life. You will be able to determine which Zodiac signs influence each area of your life and come to understand why you act differently in different situations. You’ll also encounter some of the famous faces throughout history who worked with astrology. Currently offered in term 1 each year. Watch out for this subject in e learning, coming in August 08.

Facilitator: Kelly Surtees Contemporary Astrology Level 2 Now that the stage has been set (the houses) and the backdrop is clear (the signs) you meet the characters (the planets). You’ll be introduced to the cast of astrological characters and meet the planets individually. The qualities, meaning, and mythology of each planet is discussed, including the nodes. You’ll learn how the planets communicate with each other through dignity and aspects coming to understand how the birth chart describes unique personality patterns and karmic challenges. Class discussion will centre on students examples. We’ll also define the 8 lunar phases and summarise their importance in describing the pulse of the birth chart. Facilitator: Kelly Surtees Contemporary Astrology Level 3 Contemporary Astrology Level 3 is all about what you need to know to make predictions. The theory of transits and progressions is explained using practical examples. By the end of this term you are ready to experiment with predictive cycles in your own chart. We’ll look both into the past and into the future to help you understand how each planet affects your journey. Currently offered in term 3 each year.
Pre requisites: Contemporary Astrology Level 2
Facilitator: Kelly Surtees Contemporary Astrology Level 4 Relationship compatibility is covered using the techniques of synastry and composite charts. You’ll discover how to determine emotional, physical, sexual and professional connection using the symbols of the stars. We’ll also cover specific chart shapes as well as begin the journey towards manually calculating a birth chart. Currently offered in term 4 each year.

DIPLOMA OF CONTEMPORARY ASTROLOGY
Overview:
The Diploma of Contemporary Astrology builds on your Certificate qualification and provides you with the knowledge and skills to make comprehensive and detailed predictions. You’ll cover advanced predictive techniques including secondary progressions and solar returns as well as have opportunities to hone your chart interpretation skills. In the Diploma of Contemporary Astrology you’ll learn how to chart and interpret future cycles, building on the basic theories you demonstrated in the Certificate Course. Professional certification: At the end of this course you will be eligible to sit for the FAA Chart Calculation exam. Course structure: The Diploma of Contemporary Astrology is an 18 month course (1 year Certificate plus 6 months). Delivery will consist of face to face weekly classes and some weekends. Pre requisites: Certificate in Contemporary Astrology Contemporary Astrology Level 5 Discover a new predictive tool – solar and lunar returns, and how they can enhance your understanding of future cycles. Our focus is on practical, real life interpretations so you learn how to prioritise different predictive techniques. This course will hone your forecasting and interpreting skills to a professional standard. This is course is delivered in a weekly class format. Currently offered in term 1 each year.
Pre requisites: Contemporary Astrology Level 4, Medical Astrology
Facilitator: Kelly Surtees Contemporary Astrology Level 6 This subject covers advanced predictions and includes topics like Fidaria, Profections and Solar Arc Directions. This course is delivered in weekend intensive format and offers student an insight into and practical experience with specialised predictive techniques of the ancients. Students will apply these techniques to their own birth charts. Currently offered in term 2 each year.

ASTROLOGY MASTERY Overview: Earth Institutes Astrology Mastery takes you into specialist branches of Astrology. The course covers a number of specialised modules supporting you in creating a unique philosophy in which to practice your Astrology. Topics can include but are not limited to Advanced Medical Astrology, Electional and Horary Astrology, Eclipses, Fixed Stars, Stock Market Astrology and Astrology in the Media. Professional certification: At the end of this course you will be eligible to sit for the FAA Dynamic and Advanced exams. Course structure: The Astrology Mastery is a 6 month program that can be commenced upon the completion of the Diploma of Contemporary Astrology. Delivery will consist of face to face classes, mentoring and home study. Workshop 1. Traditional Techniques - Horary and Electional Using fundamental traditional tools like reception and dignity students learn about horary and electional astrology. Horary astrology is about using the astrology of the moment to gain insight into situations or events; Electional astrology involves creating the best birth chart possible for an upcoming event or experience (like a wedding or new business). Students discover how to use astrology as an oracle and will have the opportunity to apply astrological symbolism to real life questions – and get some on the spot answers! Horary astrology is quick, clear and simple and was the historical entry point for the beginner student. By the end of the day students will have the opportunity to demonstrate basic skills in using the horoscope as a tool of enquiry and explore alternatives for creating birth charts for specific events. Assumed level of knowledge is the Earth Institute Certificate in Contemporary of Astrology or external equivalent (i.e. 12 months study in a class environment). Date: Sat 23 Aug 08

Astrologers have long applied their craft to the world of business and finance, and done it with some success. Financial Astrology covers such diverse areas as: forecasting economic cycles, electing company charts, recognising the cylces in the stock market and predicting turning points in company share prices. Anne Elliott, a Financial and Horary Astrologer, will introduce you to these topics and more as she looks at the tools and techniques used by Financial Astrologers both historically and currently. Learn methods to elect the best time to commence a business and how to choose a good company chart. Do company charts progress and are they subject to transits? Are there cycles in economic affairs? How can we use them to improve our own financial positions or to make a living as a Financial Astrologer? How can we choose the most profitable company when investing in the stockmarket? What is likely to happen to my company of choice this year? Assumed level of knowledge in the Earth Institute Certifcate in Comtemporary Astrology or equivalent. Dates: Sat 6 and Sun 7 Sept 08

Discover how to interpret a chart for its medical strengths and weaknesses. You will learn how to balance the situation using simple herbal and nutritional applications. This lecture will open up a part of medical astrology that has long been forgotten and once went hand in hand with all medicine.
