WHAT IS A SHAMANIC JOURNEY?

Since the beginning of time every culture around the world has had its own Shamanic story. History reveals that healers from disciplines inclusive of Tibetan Buddhism and Native American have long revered their spiritual connection with animal life and in Australia as well, Aboriginals are well regarded for their connection with nature.

Indeed it’s the Shamanic Journey that has stood time. While the interpretation of a Shamanic Journey may vary from culture to culture, region to region, it’s universally known to be a tool for spiritual growth. Like a medicine for the soul, the Shamanic Journey is experienced via a meditative-like state often brought about by the slow rhythmic sound of a constant drum. It’s believed that as one enters this state, visions of animal totems appear that symbolize if not reveal various aspects of oneself and their life. When practiced over time, the Shamanic Journey is believed to assist one in not only their own healing process but that of the earth’s and beyond.

Which is why the Earth Institute is proud to announce the launch of a series of Shamanic Journey sessions for 2008. The first of its kind in Australia, these will be facilitated by experts and delivered in a safe and nurturing environment and will increase one’s understanding of the process. Most significantly, students will gain a foundation that will enable them to relate their own life with a greater sense of greater fulfillment.

“This program is a series of six shamanic journey experiences within a group context,” explains Paul Preferment, co-founder of Earth Institute. “It’s for those wishing to open the doors to support, wisdom and guidance in their life journeys in a progressive and enlivening way.” He says that what distinguishes the Earth Institute from others is that the Shamanic Journey is presented in a way that is suitable to contemporary life.

“After six sessions you will have a deeper understanding of the key concepts involved in the Shamanic state of consciousness which are the three worlds of power animals, allies, soul loss and retrieval.”  He says that once you are able to integrate your journey to your personal processes and daily life, then the Shamanic Journey becomes like a self- therapy, where you have the confidence and power to have mastery of your own life.

‘Higher clarity, self-empowerment and transformation are just some of the benefits from on-going Shamanic Journeys,’ says Paul.
